KP PRIZE 2017 was awarded to Pascal Mayet for his work 'Ellinikon'. A work inspired by a 21-day long stay in front of the refugee camp 'Ellinikon' nearby Athens in Greeze.

The work consists of many small snippets of text and drawings, which floats almost weightless hanging in sewing thread. Both drawings and texts refer to Ellinikon, Athens old airport, which until 2001 for 60 years served as the city's international airport. Today the airport is home for countless refugees.

21 day stay in a Greek refugee camp gave Pascal Mayet inspiration for this artwork. The jury acknowledged with this year's KP Prize. And Aarhuus Stiftstidendes Fund donated 10,000 DKK to the winner. Photo: Axel Schütt.
